Nancy Colyer

After eleven years, we are pleased to welcome Nancy Colyer back to the team at our office.  Nancy has vast experience as a paralegal in Southern Maryland, spending many of those years working with Joann Wood at this and other offices.

Nancy has lived in Southern Maryland since 1993. She began her career working part-time for a criminal defense attorney in Leonardtown. She left for a full-time position at a personal injury law firm. In 1999 Nancy took a position at a general practice firm in Lexington Park, working as paralegal to Joann Wood. Around 2015, Nancy worked as a real estate processor for a few years before she took a position with a land use attorney in La Plata in 2018. In 2024, she returned to the Law Office of Joann M. Wood, LLC.  She will be assisting with probate matters and contract drafting.

As a young mother, Nancy took paralegal courses at Jones College in Jacksonville, Florida, and later obtained a certificate of completion in paralegal studies from the American Institute for Paralegal Studies, Inc. As her children got older, Nancy took primarily law related classes where and when she could, including with the College of Southern Maryland and Penn State University.

She is the mother of three grown sons and grandmother of two.
